Upper Mustang Trekking Restricted area of Lo-manthang


Mustang district is Himalayan former Kingdom of Nepal. Located in the remote area we will lack facilities. There is no road constructed, vehicles cannot pass. This is the main reason which creates suitability for the trek. It is very interesting to explore the unique tradition & culture of the local people. We need to walk on a very vast undistributed geographical situation. Mustang district is known as the desert of Nepal. This place is very dry. Every year very less amount of rainfall occurs. Our main task is to trek in the upper Mustang. We will be walking in the Rocky Mountains fully snow covered giant mountains. It will be accelerating, memorable & thrilling to trek in the dry land of Mustang district.
We start our upper mustang trek from Pokhara. It will be according to the choice of trekkers that you will have to drive or flight. Our walk leads us to kagbeni, ghaymi, chele, Lo-Manthang, Drakmar, Ghiling etc. we spend our nights over here. Culture & tradition of local people can be observed over here. Finishing our destination, we end our trek at Jomsom. We will be back to Pokhara with early morning mountain flight. Our flight will offer us panoramic views of Annapurna mountain ranges. It will be so much impressive in our flight. It is also one of the themes of our trek. This will give good finishing in our Trekking in Nepal.
Upper Mustang trek is long day trekking walking in Humpty Dumpty narrow trial. It will be hard to trek without any experience. In the month of March, April, May, September, October, November, and December it is suitable to trek in Upper Mustang route. Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Kathmandu exploration and preparation for the trek

Day To Day Detail Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu.
On landing your flight on TIA Nepal, there will be a warm welcome for you. Our representative of Everest Trekking Routes will be waiting for your arrival. You will be shifted to a place of accommodation. With a rest of some time, a brief description of the upcoming program is done with your guide.
Day 02: Kathmandu exploration and preparation for the trek.
The first day of Nepal tour starts with sightseeing around Kathmandu valley. Having our breakfast we move to Pashupatinath. It is the most known holiest temple of Lord Shiva. Spending a little time we move to Bauddhanath (Little Tibet). Our next destination is Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple). Visiting all this we will move to Kathmandu (Basantpur) Durbar Square, the final destination. Lastly, we will be back to our hotel and make preparation for the next program.
Day 03: Kathmandu to Pokhara (7 to 8 hours)
Our first destination is Pokhara. We will have the drive to Pokhara. From flight also we can reach our destination. Our all management of the lunch program is done on the highway. Driving through Prithvi Highway for about 7 hours we will be in Pokhara. In our leisure time, we will we walk around Lakeside for watching charming sunset views.
Day 04: Fly from Pokhara to Jomsom (2700m) and trek to Kagbeni (2858m) – 4 Hours
Having early morning mountain flight to Jomsom, we can feel as if we are flying in heaven. It will be about 1 Hr. we will be flying above beautiful giant ranges of mountains. Reaching on Jomsom we take our things & start walking to Kagbeni. All the things in the surrounding will be amazing for us.
Day 05: Kagbeni to Chele (3050m) – 6 Hours
We were tired of walking continuously for 4 hours on the last day. We will have a very good sleep. Waking up we will again make preparation for our walk. Chele is our next destination. Checking our special permit, we continue our trek to enter part of the upper Mustang. We will continue our walk until we reach Chele.
Day 06: Chele to Syangboche (3475m) – 7 Hours
Today our destination is Syangboche. From Ekle Bhatti we walk steadily uphill to cross Taklam La pass (3624 m). It will be so much impressive viewing magnificent views of beautiful mountain ranges in our walk. Reaching on Syangboche we explore all around the village & return back for our night.
Day 07: Syangboche to Ghaymi (3520m) – 6 Hours
We will continue our journey to Ghaymi. Walking through uphill to Yamda La (3850 m), it is quite difficult. Local teahouses of village’s with Tibetan culture & tradition are explored in our walk. It will be so much interesting in exploring. Like this our zigzag track leads us to Ghaymi to spend our cool night.
Day 08: Ghaymi to Charang (3500m) — 5 Hours
From Ghaymi our next destination leads us to Charang. Very long Mani wall is situated beside the plate. It is a sacred stone wall made by followers of Buddhism. It is very important things that need to be explored. We will be at Charang for out night walking for about 5 to 6 hours. This village is famous for fields of maize.
Day 09: Charang to Lo-Manthang (3700m) – 6 Hours
Early morning having breakfast, we walk to Lo-Manthang. Walking through the main trail, we can have magnificent views of Annapurna I, Nilgiri, Tilicho and Bhrikuti Peak. Seeing all this we will be full of joy. In this way, we will reach Lo. We can observe the spectacular view of Lo-Mangthang valley.
Day 10: Acclimatization at Lo-Manthang
Today is our rest day at Lo Manthang. We accumulate our self to match the climatic condition of the surrounding. Leisure time we visit several places over Lo Manthang. Getting knowledge of tradition & culture of local people at Lo Manthang, we will spend our whole day. It will be very interesting.
Day 11: Lo-Manthang to Drakmar (3810m) – 7 Hours
Accumulating our self at Lo Manthang, we will walk to our next destination Drakmar. We will walk through Gyakar & Ghar Gompa. It is more than 1200 years old. We can get a quite close magnificent view of beautiful mountain ranges. It will be so much impressive. Playing on nature, we unknowingly reach Drakmar to spend our night.
Day 12: Drakmar to Ghiling (3806m) – 6 Hours
We have finished visiting on upper Mustang area. Now it is the time to return back. It is very easy in walking while returning back to Ghiling. We just need to trek on a downhill track. It will be so much interesting viewing the beauty of nature with mountain ranges. We view the same things from a different angle.
Day 13: Ghiling to Chhuksang (3050m) – 6 Hours
In our returning journey, our next destination is Chhuksang. It will be so much easy in walking. We just need to trek downward. We will follow the main trial of Chhuksang. The same beauty of nature with mountain ranges is so much impressive. We view them from a different angle. Continuing downhill track we reach Chhuksang to spend our night.
Day 14: Chhuksang to Jomsom (2700m) – 7 Hours
From Chhuksang, our journey leads us to Jomsom. It is the ending point of our trek. It will be full of joy viewing a beautiful glimpse of giant mountain ranges. It will be so much easy walking on flat & downhill trial. Reaching on Jomsom we will make confirmation of our tomorrow’s flight to Pokhara. Finishing it we will rest remaining time.
Day 15: Fly back to Pokhara
Having early morning mountain flight to Pokhara, we can feel as if we are flying in heaven. It will be about 1 Hr. we will be flying above beautiful giant ranges of mountains. Reaching on Pokhara we walk to Lakeside. Here we can watch charming sunset views. Lastly, we will return back, have our dinner & enjoy.
Day 16: Pokhara back to Kathmandu
Now we will return back to Kathmandu. Our returning track goes through the same highway. We will be pleased with the houses and greenery of the highway. Not only this, we can be back by flight also. In around seven hours we will be in Kathmandu. We will be shifted to our hotel which will end our trek.
Day 17: Farewell

Spending the last night at Kathmandu, we will be ready to return back to the homeland. The small farewell program is organized for your team. Management of returning back and departure is made by our team. Hope you will be back to Nepal to visit the remaining side of beautiful Nepal.
